First Steps Toward Parenting &
First Steps for Parents
This
program is initiated after the birth or adoption of a baby.
It is an educational forum that can assist new parents during
this exciting yet stressful time.
Key
elements of the program include:
- A nurse will maintain contact with the new family to assess their adaptation and understanding of their parenting role and act as a support and resource to the family.
- Scheduled telephone calls are made to the new parents at certain milestones in the child’s development to assess the child’s skill level and answer any questions or concerns. Parents may call the nurse as needed, for additional assistance.
- Education and literature is provided based on individual needs. Parents will receive a copy of the book: Your Baby's First Year, Week by Week.
- Interventions are individualized to meet the needs of new parents or experienced parents
As with
all wellness programs, this
proactive, preventative approach will result in cost
savings of current and future health care dollars by ensuring a healthier
start in life.
